Jersey's losing streak in Leeds continued this weekend when they lost the first game of the new Championship season to Yorkshire Carnegie.
The reds were leading 13 - 22 at half-time, but a very strong second half performance from the home side made the final score 39 - 22. Jersey failed to pick-up a single point after the break.
That result means Jersey have yet to win at Headingley in four Championship attempts.
Three first-half tries from Jack Moates, James Freeman and Nick Haining suggested that the Reds were about to get the 2015 - 16 season off to the best possible start, and set them up perfectly for next week's battle with Cornish Pirates in their first home game.
But it wasn't to be, and in the second half Yorkshire Carnegie showed why they finished last season in sixth place in the Greene King IPA Championship table, one spot ahead of Jersey.
Jersey Rugby Club Chairman, Bill Dempsey said, "The fact that we competed so well for so long is a huge testament to the boys. Yorkshire Carnegie possibly have the biggest, most physical pack in the league, and their squad boasts over 500 premiership caps. Of course its disappointing having got ourselves into a good position at half time, and if we'd have scored the rolling maul on 50 minutes it could easily have been a different story. But take nothing away from Carnegie, they're a very good side and they clearly mean business this season."
Since reaching the Championship in 2012, Jersey have taken on Carnegie eight times, with just two wins.
Next week's game against the Pirates is at St Peter and kicks off at 3PM.
