A Jersey-born business owner and road safety campaigner is standing for election in the new district of St. John, St. Lawrence and Trinity.
Mother-of-two Hilary Jeune lives in the area of Sion, St. John, where she has called for 20mph speed limits. She is also a member of the Parish’s Comité Rurale and also edits the Parish magazine.
Having previously been based in Brussels for 13 years working for Oxfam and the Fairtrade movement, she now runs an international development consultancy and worked for clients including UNICEF, Jersey’s Government and Jersey Overseas Aid.
Outside of work, she advises the Pandemic Action Network and the World Bank’s Global Financing Facility among other international bodies, and supports the Jersey Community Foundation and is Deputy Chair of youth homelessness charity JAYF locally.
“Passionate about equality, inclusivity and the environment”, Ms Jeune says her goal is to “make Jersey fairer and more sustainable.”
“I believe there is a fantastic opportunity for Jersey to achieve this, through a coherent and considered roadmap,” she added.
“If elected, I can use my international experiences to work collaboratively, proactively, and effectively with other local politicians. Bringing best practice examples from across the world and adapting it to what works for Jersey.”
