WATCH: Santa saves the Christmas lights

Santa has stepped in to save the day and switch the lights back on following a Christmas crisis.

In a video from the Parish of St. Helier and Jersey Development Company, Father Christmas tells one of his favourite stories: 'The tale of the St. Helier Christmas Lights'.

The video came as part of the virtual switch-on of the St. Helier lights, an online alternative to the usual annual celebration.

Video: T'was the month before Christmas...

All the way from the North Pole to above the weighbridge and across King Street, Santa spreads the Christmas cheer and makes sure town gets its dose of yuletide magic for the year.

But it's snow joke when the lights go out, and Santa has to sleigh in to make sure St Helier is illuminated for the festive period.

It ends with a message for those out and about shopping for their Christmas gifts to keep an eye on the Christmas Tree Trail, saying: "If you get them all yule get a special decoration of your own."

The aim of the trail is to promote shopping locally by visiting stores and snapping ‘elfies’ with the trees as a fun family activity whilst completing your Christmas Shopping in town. Each tree represents a cause or Charity worth highlighting this festive season.
