Schools and businesses across the island, and all around the world, went wild on Friday as part of a new Durrell fundraising initiative intended to raise money for its Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Whether at home, in the workplace, at school, or in a club, Durrell invited people to take part in an animal inspired activity as a fun way to raise money and awareness for endangered species and to help Durrell in its bid to create a "wilder, healthier, more colourful world."
Bel Royal and St.Michael's schools were among the ones to support the initiative, as well as Cheeky Monkeys Nursery. A number of businesses also opted to go wild for the Trust, including Citi Bank, CPA Global, Fairway Group, Investec, Jersey Finance, Switch Digital, Trust Ford, Vistra Trust Company, Voisins Law and JTC Group.
Durrell's Ambassadors, actors Henry Cavill and Milo Parker, also joined in the fun and showed their support on social media.
With participants choosing to wear animal onesies, baking animal-themed cakes or working out like monkeys, Durrell also handed out prizes to "wildly" creative fundraising ideas, and the top fundraisers, whose name who will be announced shortly.
Alex Shears, Head of Communications and Fundraising commented: “Thank you so much to everyone who has signed up to take part in the first ‘Go Wild for Durrell Day’. We are really looking forward to see all the wild ways that people take part and help raise money for Durrell.”
