See some new art behind the lens this summer

Some local filmmakers are among a record number of local artists who will be opening up their doors and showing off their work to us all this summer.

Little Rivers Pictures, a husband and wife team who shoot shorts to feature length documentaries, are one of 63 artists showcasing their talents as part of the Skipton Open Studios when it returns for its eighth year in June.

You’ll also get to see some familiar faces on the local arts scene taking part in the biennial event organised by the Jersey Arts Trust, including Jason Butler, Ian Rolls, Nicholas Romeril, Marc Medland, Nanette Regan and Lisa le Brocq and new artists Ben Robertson, Will Bertram, Sam Bullock and Sam Carney. Some of the artists will be coming together to exhibit in the Island's historic locations, places like Jersey Heritage's Archirondel Tower and the Wetlands Centre in St Ouen.

Skipton International’s Managing Director Jim Coupe said: “As headline sponsor we have been delighted to see the popularity of the Skipton Open Studios grow over the last five years and with 63 artists lined up to take part this year, the event looks to be bigger and better than ever.

“Skipton Open Studios is all about making the work of local artists more accessible to the wider public, and we are very pleased to see so many up and coming artists sign up this year, particularly those who will bring a new flavour to the event through the mediums of film and digital media.”

All the artists taking part will have their work featured in a taster exhibition in the classic and contemporary gallery spaces at CCA Galleries International in Hill Street fro Thursday 16 June until Saturday 2 July.

You’ll be able to see artists working in the west of the Island during the weekend of Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June and those in the eastern parishes a fortnight later.
