Sharpen your knives for reality TV show

Do you and your partner think you have what it takes to cook up the best dinner party? If so you could get to star on Channel 4’s popular reality TV cooking show, Come Dine With Me.

A film crew is coming back to the Island to find another group of amateur local cooks looking to host the best evening and take home £1,000.

This time the show is on the hunt for couples to take part and will be in Jersey the week after next to meet them.

Former local radio presenter Kevin Pamplin took part in the singles show when it was filmed in the Island back in 2012 having been put forward by his colleagues at BBC Radio Jersey.

He starred alongside Craig Dempster, Jane-Anne Collier and Jessica Stanier but having come last he says he’s not in a hurry to cook up the same meal again anytime soon.

Kevin, who now works for Jersey Brain Tumour Charity said: “The actual taking part was interesting, it’s definitely a very long process and not what a normal dinner party is like, given all the stop-starting for filming and such like.”

Kevin added that he’s kept in touch with all his fellow diners, who have all become Friends on Facebook.

“We sometimes bump into each other and catch up and have a laugh about it because we know what it was like as opposed to what the finished show was.”

“It’s a great experience and one you will never forget. But it stays with you - there is a record of it for all time, thanks to repeats and on-demand television. If you have the confidence and strength of character to be able to laugh at yourself and see the funny side, then sure, go for it, but if you have any doubts then don't do it. 

“You never know who is watching, for me my kids and my grandmother where always in the back of my mind. My daughter Bea loves her dad's cooking, and that's all I need to know.”
