The work carried out by a Jersey charity providing nursing care in the community has been recognised with the Investors in People Silver Standard.

The accolade was awarded to Family Nursing and Home Care (FNHC) to celebrate outstanding achievements for both the charity and its employees and volunteers.

The charity’s CEO, Julie Gafoor, said: “We are delighted to have achieved the Investors in People Silver Standard. It is only because of the dedication of our team that we have been able to achieve this status and that’s why organised this presentation event – to say a big thank you to all of them.

“We felt it important to take the opportunity to thank them for their contributions and to highlight their amazing achievements of the past 12 months. They are all committed to delivering outstanding patient care and these awards and qualifications only go to show how dedicated they are to doing this.”

Family Nursing and Home Care received significant praise from the Investors in People: “Family Nursing and Home Care staff are visibly involved in decision making processes, and feel empowered to make these decisions, whilst fully understanding the strict guidelines that they have to adhere to when it comes to patient care… FNHC employees clearly had learnt a great deal about themselves, and understand about quality and assurance across the business.”

The charity received its award at a presentation ceremony held earlier this month at the RJAHS.

In addition to the presentation of the Investors in People accreditation, three nursing staff also received awards for academic studies, while a further 25 team members received recognition for the completion of the Modern Management Programme.

The presentation also saw Jo Davies receive the William Glasson Award, set up in memory of the former FNHC staff member.
