Islanders expecting a calm stroll along St. Ouen’s promenade yesterday were faced with a shock after a deep sink hole suddenly opened up.
Caused by collapse of the surface layer, the hole developed directly outside El Tico overnight.
It was described as “very dangerous and unstable” by police, who warned islanders to avoid the area.
Repair work is ongoing and the sink hole zone has been cordoned off with barriers in the interim.
