A Jersey finance worker, whose father has a rare form of motor neurone disease, has set himself a walking challenge to raise awareness of the condition and funds to tackle it.
Max Renouf-Watkins, an Assistant Manager at Deloitte, will be walking 48 miles around the island on 20 August 2022.
Max's dad was diagnosed with Kennedy's disease eight years ago.
The disease has significantly impacted his physical and mental health and has also cast a shadow across the whole family.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association has supported the family with advice and education about Kennedy's Disease.
They have also provided support from speech and language therapists, nutritionists, sleep specialists, physios and clinical psychologists.
Max said: "My dad's diagnosis highlighted the need to raise awareness for all Motor Neurone conditions and to help others who find themselves in the same position.
"So I've set myself this challenge to not only support the charity and the incredible individuals whom are involved with the charity, but also to support my dad, who continues to be an inspiration to me every day."

He added: "My parents will be joining me for the final stretch of the walk, and I'm looking forward to completing the challenge with them."
Max has been making the most of his work's flexible working policy to train several times a week for his walk, with his aim to "build up my stamina and ensure I know the coastal paths".
His overall fundraising target is £3,500 - and he is already well on his way, having generated £3,250 at the time of writing.
Max will start the walk at 03:00 at the Ferry Terminal, travelling anti-clockwise around the island, with his parents joining him for the final stretch.
