Boat cancellations scupper French market

Thursday 12 December 2019

The popular Norman Christmas Market will not be on the island this Friday and Saturday as planned due to boat cancellations.

It had been due to start run until Tuesday at the Weighbridge from 09:00 to 20:00 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and from 09:00 to 16:00 on Tuesday.

However, organisers from the Maison de la Normandie de la Manche said this afternoon: "Due to boat cancellation, the Norman Market traders will not be able to come this Friday or Saturday."

"Depending on the weather, the market may still come from Sunday 15th until Wednesday 18th."

They pledged to update islanders as soon as more information is received from Condor Ferries.

The market had promised a selection of French treats, ranging from crêpes to cider and handmade wares, from nine traders making their way across the Channel.

Meanwhile, the Genuine Jersey Simply Christmas Market is continuing in the Royal Square this weekend. Read more about it by clicking here.
