Dealer jailed after offering "beans" and "snow" over social media

Wednesday 17 November 2021

A 21-year-old man has been sent to prison for three-and-a-half years for drug dealing.

Angelo Gabriel De Sa Fernandes was sentenced by the Royal Court on Tuesday, having pleaded to nine drug trafficking offences concerning Class A, B and C drugs between 28 September and 9 December 2020.

These included dealing just over nine grams of MDMA, 20 tablets of Tramadol and six grams of cannabis.

The drugs were found during a search by police of Fernandes’s home in St. Helier.

A forensic examination of his iPhone provided evidence that he had been concerned in offering to supply cannabis, cocaine and MDMA on at least five occasions.

Social media messages included offers to sell “Beans and Charley?” being MDMA tablets and cocaine, “Wanting any banging snow?” being an offer for high quality cocaine and “215 for 6” being an offer to sell six grams of cannabis resin at £35.80 per gram.

A police officer concluded in a report: “This case has all the hallmarks of a person involved in the street supply of a variety of drugs.

“The messages are incriminating and clearly demonstrate not only his involvement in the commercial sale of various illicit drugs over several months prior to his arrest but him proactively seeking to supply drugs.

“Significantly, he had street deals prepared and was obviously mixing the drugs with adulterants to maximise profit potential.

“He also had an up-to-date deal list on his phone indicating recent drug dealing.

“All this supports my contention that he is selling drugs at the street level for predominantly a profit motive.”

Deputy Bailiff Robert MacRae was sitting with Jurats Jerry Ramsden, Steven Austin-Vautier and Kim Averty.
