Local "environmental heroes" will next week help launch a new club, which aims to help teens make new friends, develop leadership skills and discover the power of volunteering.
The Rotary Club of Jersey will be launching its own Interact Club for young people aged 12 to 18 with a 'Sustainability Forum' at Beresford Street Kitchen on 2 October.
There are over 20,000 Interact Clubs in the world with a total of 468,556 participants. The clubs aim to help young people "develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self".
The clubs organise at least two projects every year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. Rotary club sponsors mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills.
The Rotary Club of Jersey is now offering young islanders "the chance to become part of an international family whilst helping those less fortunate than yourselves, both in your own community and at a global level".
Events planned for next year include sponsoring students to attend PeaceJam Winchester - the UK's annual youth leadership conference - in March, where they will join other young people from across the UK.
In April, there will be a Peace Seminar organised in partnership with Jersey Overseas Aid to mark the 75th Anniversary of Liberation and to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of Jersey being declared a Rotary Peace Island.

To launch Jersey's first Interact Club, the Rotary Club has organised a 'Sustainability Forum' with "four environmental heroes".
The event will take place on Wednesday at 16:30.
Elis Joudalova, who brought the food sharing app Olio to Jersey, Kaspar Wimberley, the founding director of the Sustainable Cooperative (SCOOP) and The Morning Boat as well as Jane Burns of Plastic Free Jersey and Andrew Le Quesne, Chairman of Earth Project Jersey, will all be speaking at the event.
Young islanders attending will have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions, learn from their experiences, as well discuss their ideas for projects.
