3,000 Islanders have just a few more days to pay their outstanding tax bills - or face it getting bigger.
The Taxes office will add an extra 10% if it's not paid by 18:00 this Friday - and telling them the cheque is in the post won't be enough to escape the extra costs!
The Taxes Office issued nearly 12,000 notices of assessment in October to Islanders with balances still to pay, but thousands remain outstanding.
Assistant Comptroller of Taxes, Chris Le Breton, said: “The majority of people pay their taxes and Long-Term Care contribution on time. But around 3,000 people still have an outstanding balance which will be surcharged if not paid.
“It’s quick and simple to pay online using a debit card. Any cheques must be in our hands by 6pm this coming Friday – ‘it’s in the post’ is not an acceptable excuse.”
Last year nearly 700 people missed the deadline and were charged an extra 10%.
