Technical fault grounds Blue Islands flight

Monday 16 July 2018

Emergency services attended a Blue Islands flight carrying 40 people after it was forced to make an unexpected landing in Jersey over the weekend.

The passenger plane had been flying from Guernsey to Southampton on Saturday (BE6342) when a “technical issue” was detected within the aircraft’s hydraulic systems.

It was then diverted to Jersey as a precautionary measure, where Blue Islands officials reported that it landed “safely and without incident.”

The plane was met by the airport’s emergency services, which the airline said was “standard procedure in such instances.”

Engineers are now carrying out a full investigation into the cause of the problem.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is Blue Islands’ highest priority and we apologise for the inconvenience experienced,” a spokesperson commented.
