The snow-covered landscapes of Jersey’s new Christmas experience are to be created by the snow company who worked on the Harry Potter and Narnia films.
Snow Business specialises in creating different snow effects; from icicles and ground snow to flakes, frosting and anything else a winter scene requires.
Film work by the company includes snow scenes in comedies such as Bridget Jones and Love Actually, dramas such as Anna Karenina and Memoirs of a Geisha, and thrillers such as Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Skyfall.
Their snow has been in soaps such as Coronation Street, Eastenders and Emmerdale; and on programmes as diverse as Pride and Prejudice and Top Gear.
This will be the first time Snow Business will have worked in Jersey.
Show organisers, Secrets Beneath said: “We have teamed up with Snow Business, the theatrical snow company behind the snow in the film version of Narnia, and the Harry Potter films. There will be snow blanketing the wooded areas, and falling snow when you enter the attraction. This is high quality theatrical snow, and it will not wet or damage your clothing.”
Snow Business was set up in 1982 by Darcey Crownshaw. It began by supplying artificial ash for a production of The Last Days of Pompeii, before moving into 'paper snow'. The company now creates over 160 different kinds of artificial snow.
Enchanted Narnia runs from Thursday 26 November, until Christmas Eve. Tickets are £8 for an adult and £14 for a child, with family tickets from £30 for a family of three (two adults and one child) to £42 for a family of five (two adults and three children).
The show, which will be held at the Weighbridge, is billed as 'the biggest Christmas winter wonderland the island has seen'. Its producers, local theatre company Secrets Beneath, are best known in Jersey for their scare and horror attractions.
Secrets Beneath Partner Kate Colin said: "Secrets Beneath has been bringing scare and horror attractions to the island for three years, but wanted to put something on for children and families. The attraction will be like nothing the island has seen before, and has already had a lot of interest from the general public.”
