A 63-year-old man accused of one count of rape and one count of sexual penetration without consent will face a jury trial next year.

Joseph Raymond Lloyd appeared in the Royal Court on Friday 23 December before Bailiff Sir Timothy Le Cocq, sitting with Jurats Jeremy John Ramsden and David Gareth Hughes.

Mr Lloyd, who was born in Liverpool, pleaded not guilty to both counts.

A five-day jury trial in the Royal Court was set for 10 July 2023, and a pre-trial directions hearing will be held on 3 February 2023.

Crown Advocate Lauren Hallam appeared for the prosecution, and Advocate Mark Boothman appeared on behalf of the defendant.
