VIDEO: Another successful weekend for a "refreshed" Jersey Live

Monday 05 September 2016

Thousands of islanders enjoyed a weekend of live music at Jersey’s longest running music festival despite Saturday’s rainy conditions.

Music lovers were treated to another star-studded lineup this year with acts such as Sigma, Madness, Richard Ashcroft and Disclosure topping the bill at Jersey Live, which is sponsored by JT.

Organiser of the festival, Warren Le Sueur was positive about how the weekend went:

“Given the challenges we faced with the weather which sometimes means people don't want to turn up too early in the day, we had a very good turn out. Luckily, all of the acts arrived in the Island so we were very fortunate with that. It wasn’t anything like Folklore earlier on in the year where the weather played havoc with the arrival of the artists.

“From the feedback I’ve had, the stand out acts were Richard Ashcroft, Sigma and The Showhawk Duo.

Two local police officers would certainly agree as they caused a storm on States of Jersey Police’s Facebook page with their dance to Sunday’s headliner Sigma:

When they weren’t dancing, the local authorities were working hard to ensure everyone’s safety. In terms of the event’s security, Mr. Le Sueur said: “There were very few incidents and appreciate the support and work of the authorities and they worked very well with our security team to ensure everyone’s safety.”

Inspector Andy Bisson, who was leading the policing for the festival, said: “It was a superb event and went really well. The team from Jersey Live did a fantastic job and worked with us throughout which meant the event was virtually trouble-free.”

There were only two arrests over the entire weekend, one for assault and the other for drug possession. Both cases are being investigated now.
