Today a manor in St Peter is being transformed into the filmset of a WW2 re-enactment, complete with actors dressed as American and German soldiers.
Islanders have been forewarned that the film will involve "military pyrotechnics", explosions and loud noises to mimic machine gun and rifle fire.
Starburst Fireworks issued a public warning notice on Facebook: "At sporadic intervals between 0930hrs and 1630hrs there will be loud bursts of machine gun and rifle fire, grenade, mortar and artillery explosions and a lot of smoke. Some of these explosions will be rather loud. Please keep pets indoors. If you know of someone who may need to be notified, please assist us and pass this message on. Thanks."
This prompted the Police to issue an announcement of their own, pointing out that there's plenty of men in uniform at the Fire Service, if anyone feels bereft.
