Comic Relief's fund raising in Jersey got off to a flying start yesterday with a visit from one famous TV presenter.

Vernon Kay touched down to help support British Airways staff in their fundraising efforts.

The TV presenter landed at the airport yesterday afternoon where he then jumped on board with the Big Red Bus Tour down to the Weighbridge.

Vernon Kay was accompanied by BA staff and children from St Peter's Primary School on the bus tour that raised the profile of the fundraising activities of the BA Jersey team.

The BA staff in Jersey have been running numerous initiatives to raise money for Comic Relief.

This Friday, BA staff are planning to 'Dance Themselves Silly' with a 12-hour dance-a-thon in the airport departure terminal.

From 06:00–18:00 the airline's Jersey-based ground agents and airline services staff will be hoping to dance their way to the bank for charity as they get on the dancefloor with special appearances from the likes of Elvis Presley, ABBA, and other guests.

During the day they will be joined by a number of dancers from local primary schools as well as an Irish Dance Troupe.

Islanders flying on Friday will find the BA check-in area, Executive Lounge and its departure gates decorated for the occasion and staff will shaking the red donations' buckets and selling official Comic Relief merchandise and cupcakes.

If you don’t find yourself at the airport this Friday but would like to help the BA team reach their £10,000 goal there is an online donation page available here.
