A candlelight vigil is being held in Jersey later today to remember the 22 people who were killed, and 102 others who were injured, in bomb attack at a pop concert in Manchester a week ago.

The event’s being held in the Royal Square at 19:00 and amongst those attending will be the Bailiff, William Bailhache, the Lieutenant Governor, Sir Stephen Dalton, and numerous States members.

The Bailiff has issued the following statement: “I am pleased to support the organisers of this vigil for the Manchester victims, which provides a focal point for all who wish to demonstrate their solidarity under these difficult circumstances. Whether you are from Manchester, have relations in Manchester or if you are showing support for the victims of this act of terror, we can all take this opportunity to consolidate our thoughts and feelings for those affected.”

A book of condolence has been opened and is available in the States building for Islanders to sign.
