Visit Jersey CEO stepping down

Wednesday 17 August 2022

The head of the island's key tourism promotion body has announced she is stepping down for "personal reasons".

Amanda Burns - who was the marketing brain behind the Great Western Railway’s iconic Famous Five campaign - became Visit Jersey's CEO in August 2020.

She took over from Keith Beecham, who spent five years at the helm of the arms-length body.

Now, two years after stepping up, Ms Burns has announced that she will be leaving the company at the beginning of December and returning to the UK to pursue a new opportunity.

Ms Burns said it had been a "difficult decision" to make.

"I have loved the job and working with a fantastic team at Visit Jersey and I've appreciated the support from the Board during my time. We have accomplished a lot together, focusing on our response to the pandemic and developing a marketing strategy to drive demand for the future," she commented.

Chair of Visit Jersey Lisa Springate added: "On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Amanda for her commitment and marketing vision over two extremely challenging years for the industry.

"We entirely understand her personal reasons for deciding to return to the UK and wish her all the best with her new role."
