Waitrose Red Houses extends free customer parking

Tuesday 29 December 2015

The upper car park at Waitrose Red Houses is to become a disk zone shopper's car park.

The Red Houses branch, in partnership with the States of Jersey Transport and Technical Services Department, is amending the car park rulings so that customers no longer have to use parking paycards and will provide an additional 34 one-hour overflow parking spaces.

To assist customers in the run up to the Christmas and the New Year, temporary signage will be positioned shortly to communicate the change of use. More permanent signage will be put in place in the New Year.

Peter Slater, branch manager of Waitrose Red Houses, said that this amendment to the current system was in response to customer demand for increased and more convenient parking in the area.

“It’s great to be able to provide additional parking for our customers and for other businesses around us. It is hoped that more permanent improvements and changes will happen in the New Year and will include a new trolley bay and ramp to allow easier access.

“As we approach the busy Christmas and New Year period, having the opportunity to provide an additional 34 overflow parking spaces will be a huge benefit to all.”
