Time travel with the National Trust

Sunday 05 August 2018

Jersey’s National Trust are giving you the opportunity to 'time travel' and get some exercise at the same time.

Their September ‘Walking Through Autumn Festival’ will see them stage three walks a day from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th.

Each walk will be themed. They’ll include a “time travel walk in St. Helier”, a “low-water archaeology walk around La Rocque Harbour”, farming through the ages and a Viking sheep walk.

Donna Le Marrec of the National Trust said: “We’re fortunate to have many historic sites within our care and what better way to discover and enjoy them, than with a walking festival? Each walk features a Blue Badge Guide or local expert, depending on the route and will be tailored around our heritage and natural environment.”

“What sets this festival apart is the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes view, which wouldn’t normally be available to the public. It’s the first time the Trust has organised a walking festival and one we hope to continue for many years. We’re very grateful for Intertrust’s support, as without them it simply would not be possible to run such events,” she added.

Helene Senior, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Intertrust, said: “At Intertrust we’re dedicated to protecting Jersey’s natural beauty and heritage, so It’s a perfect fit for us to support this event.

“The walks will focus on the National Trust’s sites and history and are the perfect opportunity to get out in the fresh air and enjoy autumn with friends and family.”

The walks are free to National Trust members. Non-members will have to pay £5 a walk.
