An international ballet photographer who has taken thousands of photos for a local charity that supports children with special needs and disabilities has been lauded for her six years of service during National Volunteering Week.
JCCT's vision is that "every child in Jersey has access to the nurture, care and learning they need to thrive" through a series of support services for families - and they say that volunteers are an important way of achieving that.
One of them is Dasa Wharton, an international ballet photographer from Czech Republic.
"By sharing her time and skills with us, not only has Dasa, quite literally, transformed how we tell others what we do, but she has also benefited professionally and personally too," the Trust explained.
Video: 'This is Harry', a video showcasing Dasa Wharton's photographs.
‘This is Harry’ is one of the videos created from Mrs Wharton's photographs, which the Trust describes as "incredible." It gives a quick glimpse into the work of the Trust.
In her video, Ms Wharton says that volunteering is "as much about giving as receiving." She explains that each child has their own unique stories and different difficulties to face and that working with them has taught her a lot in terms of her work.
But she is just one of many volunteers helping the JCCT in their actions.
"We are thrilled to have so many talented people helping us in so many different ways that suit their skills, interests and time commitments. From managing our modest but growing number of collecting tins in local shops and businesses to helping us at one of our events, once a year, we have roles to suit different people and their skills, interests and time.
"We are always keen to hear from individuals and businesses who want to find out more about volunteering opportunities with us."
