Are you brave enough to enter the Manor?

Tuesday 31 October 2023

A teenager who wants to spread the spirit of the spooky season has spent thousands of pounds and many sleepless nights creating an immersive halloween exhibition in his back garden.

Children and adults looking for a fright this Halloween night are invited to visit the ‘Manor’ in the garden of 8 School Road in St Clement from 20:00 onwards for their fill of thrills, chills – and, of course, sweets.

And this is all for free.

The mind behind the menacing mansion is 17-year-old Logan Fernandes who works at a local garage.

He explained: "I do it for the children. Normally we just advertise on Facebook and loads of them come.

"We had hundreds last year, and we ran out of sweets!"

Logan added that he loves decorating, and makes all the props for the haunted house – which is "different every year" – by hand.

"Three weeks straight I've been working on this, and through the night as well, because I work during the day," he explained.

Logan said the endeavour this year had cost around £3,000 for decorations and props, building supplies, and sweets.

"But I'm happy to spend it," he added. "I just love doing it and I don't mind the cost.

"I work for the money and then I spend it on decorations and I make them out of pallets of woods, whatever ideas comes into my head.

"Sometimes my parents get involved as well, if they're not working," said Logan.

He reassured islanders that he tries "not to make it too scary for the kids, so all are welcome".

You can visit Logan's haunted house in the garden of 8 School Road in St Clement from 20:00 onwards tonight.
