Who will snare Fox prize?

It’s helped launch the careers of local artists Jason Butler and Ian Rolls – both past winners of “the Fox” and now it’s your turn to get creative this summer and have your artwork on show at Jersey Arts Centre.

You don’t even have to paint to be in with a chance of winning the prestigious Fox Open Art Competition – last year’s winner Tom Rolls used coffee to create a buzz with his winning mixed media piece.

The local competition has been running for more than thirty years and attracts over 200 entries every year. There’s £1,000 up for grabs for the overall winner this time around, £500 for the runner-up and £250 for the best entry from a young artist aged between 12 and 18.

You can enter two works of art for a fiver as long as they’ve never been exhibited at Jersey Arts Centre before and if you’re a student it will only cost you £1.

Celebrated British artist Sophie Morrish who is currently based in the Outer Hebrides will be judging this year’s competition and will be exhibiting her own work in the Berni Gallery from 14 to 26 September.

You can pick up an entry form now from Jersey Arts Centre and you need to get your work in betweeen 10 am and 1pm or between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday 8 or Wednesday 9 September.
