Woman arrested after ‘wielding crowbar’

A woman has been arrested after allegedly grabbing a crowbar from a building site and wielding it in the street.

Police said the female, who is in her mid-30s, had been shouting in the street before she retrieved the crowbar and started walking towards Spearmel Stores on Belmont Road around 14:00 yesterday.

Officers are continuing their investigations and are asking anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

They described the alleged perpetrator as white and of “proportionate build”, adding: “She was wearing a black hat and black jeans with a chain hanging from one leg, she was also wearing a black coat and had a pink bag.”
