Aerodrome pavement specialists Amco Giffen are doing the work, which has been described as “essential maintenance and patch repairs to the runway and asphalt taxiway”.
A spokesperson for the airport has dismissed rumours that this work led to the partial collapse of a section of the runway.
It’s thought the message – which was shared with Express as well as politicians in both Alderney and Guernsey – was due to someone being “misinformed” about the work taking place.

Longer term, there has been recent movement in determining a solution to the ongoing problems with Alderney Airport’s runway.
Guernsey Ports has confirmed it is “continuing to work on a long-term solution to the condition of the ageing facilities in Alderney”.
Last year, a scheme to rebuild and extend the runway was put to tender, after the States of Guernsey had agreed financial backing for the work.
A “value engineering” phase is currently underway with the preferred bidder.
