De Sausmarez Ward remains closed to new patients.
Express had understood that some patients on Le Marchant Ward and their relatives were already aware of covid-19 infections in that part of the hospital as well.
The Committee has now confirmed that the outbreak has reached Le Marchant Ward and that the patients infected “all developed mild symptoms in the last couple of days”.

“We have isolated a small number of covid-19 cases on Le Marchant Ward,” said the Committee.
“The Ward will be closed to new patients for at least 10 days in case any other patients develop covid-19 during that time, as we do not want new patient admissions to become infected.”
The Committee said that “managing covid-19 outbreaks in the hospital is…a fast-moving picture”, citing that Giffard Ward was closed to new admissions earlier this week but is now open again.
“It is important to note that covid-19 is circulating within the community and as such it is inevitable that we will have to manage outbreaks within the hospital.
“This is now part of the community as a whole living responsibly with the virus.”
Giffard is a general surgical ward. De Sausmarez is an orthopaedic ward. Le Marchant Ward specialises in assessment and rehabilitation.
