From quick pencil lines sketched on street corners to grand opera unfolding on the big screen, this week’s Art Fix is all about seeing Guernsey differently… whether through a sketchbook, a spotlight, or your own hands.
Here’s what’s on offer…
Sketch Club Exhibition
In 2025, the St Peter Port Sketch Club visited over twenty locations around the town to draw the buildings, streets and squares of St Peter Port… and now you have a chance to admire the outcome.
The varied and unique pieces will be celebrated in the Sketch Club’s annual exhibition in the George Crossan Gallery, opening next Thursday 15 January and running until 21 March.
The sketch club is organised by CCD Architects and this year there was a record number of participants of all ages, from seven to seventy years old. The exhibition features hundreds of drawings and paintings using a huge variety of different styles and techniques. Often drawn quite rapidly, the sketches are a spontaneous response to the location and a captivating record of St Peter Port. All are welcome.
“The St Peter Port Sketch Club brings people of all ages and drawing experience levels together through the power of art and an appreciation for our Island’s unique architecture. We recognise the social benefits that the club brings and are very proud that Guernsey Arts will sponsor and host the exhibition in the heart of St Peter Port for the third year running,” said Russ Fossey from Guernsey Arts.
The George Crossan Gallery is located within the Inner Market and open from 09:00 – 17:00. Free admission.
La Traviata
Screenings from the Royal Ballet & Opera return to the PRCPA for 2026!
Taking place next Wednesday 14 January from 19:00, La Traviata tells the story of the celebrated Parisian courtesan, Violetta.

At one of her lavish parties, Violetta is introduced to Alfredo Germont. She has just returned to public life following a period of illness, and is touched by Alfredo’s concern.
The two instantly fall in love, and Alfredo asks Violetta to join him in the countryside. Though hesitant to leave behind her life of luxury and freedom, she agrees, following her heart. After three months of living with Alfredo, Violetta, alone at the house, receives an unexpected visit from his father, Giorgio Germont, who persuades her to give up Alfredo to save the Germont family from scandal.
Though heartbroken at the thought of leaving Alfredo, Violetta eventually agrees. Rather than return to his family home, Alfredo follows Violetta to Paris. But when he finds her with her former protector Baron Douphol, tensions erupt.
With Violetta’s health increasingly fragile, will it be too late for Alfredo to make amends?
