The regulations were signed by the Committee for Health & Social Care (HSC) and means all tobacco products sold across the Channel Islands will now look the same.
HSC Vice President, Deputy Tina Bury, said: “The Tobacco Advertising and Related Activities (Guernsey) Regulations 2021 underline Guernsey’s commitment and responsibilities under the World Health Organisation’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
“A year after the regulations were signed, allowing for a one-year ‘sell through’ period, I am pleased to see these regulations come into force today.”

“16% of deaths in Guernsey and Alderney are attributable to smoking, which equates to 86 people dying each year,” said Andrea Tostevin from Quitline.
“Stopping smoking is the single most positive action that can be made to improve health. Plain packaging for tobacco products has been shown to reduce the appeal of smoking, particularly in children and young people.
“Guernsey’s free stop smoking service, Quitline, is available to support anyone who would like to give up smoking.”
