A ‘build-a-bear’ workshop raised £500 to help a local man who was paralysed after an accident.
Craft shop Messy Minds put on the workshop at the Puffin and Oyster last weekend, to raise money for Connor Bayes, who became paralyzed from the chest down after an accident in 2021.
Mr Bayes told Express it was “a great day”, adding: “I’m thankful to everyone that came and bought a bear, and I hope everyone had a fun time.”
The money raised will go towards an accessible vehicle and some more sessions at the spinal rehabilitation centre for him.
Lola Haines, who organised the event, said it was an “honour” to be involved.
She told Express: “Seeing so many people come together to support him made the day incredibly special, and I definitely don’t plan on stopping at just one event.
“If Messy Minds can continue using fun and creativity to bring people together and make a difference, then we absolutely will.”
