The Bumblebee Art competition will see all primary school children given the opportunity to create their own bumblebee using any art materials they want.
This year the competition is focused on six local bumblebee species.
“This is the second time we’ve featured bumblebees and we are really looking forward to sharing our films and favourite bumblebee facts with children in the primary schools across the Bailiwick,” said Laura Harrison from the Pollinator Project.
“We’ll be talking about buzz pollination, how and why queen bumblebees find mouse holes, short tongues and long tongues and of course how important pollination is. They might be humble but bumblebees are a really important part of nature.”
The Pollinator Project is a charity founded in 2017 that aims to protect the island’s pollinators. This year the Project is being supported by Mourant.
“We are delighted to be sponsoring the Pollinator Project for the third year running,” said Managing Partner, John Lewis.
“Environmental sustainability is of key strategic importance to our firm, and by actively championing grass roots educational initiatives such as this, Mourant aims to support a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility within the Guernsey and wider Channel Islands community.
“We look forward to seeing the results of the bumblebee art competition, and if the artwork is as impressive as last year it will be extremely tough to pick a winner!”
