The former Sephora shop in the Market could be changed into a coffee shop with Cafe Lola extending into the much larger premises.
The owner of the Market Buildings, McAulay (Market Buildings) Ltd has asked for planning permission to change the use of the French Halles from General Retail (Use Class 10) to Cafe (Use Class 11).
In documents supporting the planning application, Tyrell Dowinton Architects have confirmed that the plan is to open up access between the French Halles and the adjacent ‘Poid de la Reine’ building which is currently occupied by Cafe Lola.
It’s suggested that a link corridor is created between the two listed premises, utilising the archway within Poid de La Reine.

If permission is given to change the use of the French Halles, the glazing within the archways would be altered so that they can be opened up to Market Square.
The planning application open for consolation on Friday 14 February, with any views needing to be submitted by 4 March.

Cafe Lola is owned by Pearl Oyster Ltd.
The company also owns Coco at the Albany and will be opening a new eatery at Fermain Bay after winning the tender process to take over the existing facilities there.
