The young pup is also struggling with a problem with her heart valves, and fluid on her lungs.

Medication has helped to control these issues for now, but the animal charity is wanting to set up scans and x-rays to work out what can be done to help her in the long term too.

It’s estimated that this could cost thousands while the GSPCA is also struggling to recover from physical damage to its facilities during Storm Ciaran.

Lorna Chadwick, GSPCA Welfare Officer said Molly is an “amazing” dog who needs help.

“Molly is a beautiful 8 year old Chihuahua who is currently in our care at the Shelter.

“She has a Grade 4 heart murmur and problems with one of her heart valves. She has also recently had fluid on her lungs but we are hoping medication has improved this.

“Molly is going to need heart scans and a chest x-ray to monitor her condition and ensure we can provide the best care possible for her. She is going to need life long medication and ongoing care from the wonderful staff at Vets4Pets.

“She is such a wonderful, friendly little dog who deserves the best life she can have.”

GSPCA Manager, Steve Byrne added that the charity’s work caring for dogs like Molly never stops, even when storms hit.

“From dealing with the damage from Storm Ciaran to caring for poorly dogs like Molly our work is truly 24/7 365 days a year.

“Molly is amazing but with her heart problems she requires over £1000’s worth of scans and treatment and we are appealing for anyone that would like to and can afford to, to please donate to her care.”

You can donate to the GSPCA directly to support Molly and other animals needing care via its website or through giving.gg HERE.
