62 dolphin statues will be sold tonight, as the Dolphin Discovery Trail comes to its conclusion.

The models have already been removed from their temporary homes on display to the Peninsula Hotel where the auction will be held tonight.

More than 1,000 people used the Turfhunt app to find all of the dolphins, with many visiting them all on location across Guernsey and Herm.

Now the work of sponsors, artists, and the two charities benefiting from the Trail, is coming to an end.

All proceeds from the Trail and the auction tonight will help fund the work of Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA.

In order to attend the auction, members of the public have to grab themselves a ticket, with 70 sold for the event so far.

27 dolphins already have reserve bids placed on them but all are still available to bid for on the fundraiser’s website HERE.

There’s a public viewing of the dolphins before the event starts at 18.00, when it will open up with a round of welcome drinks and canapés.

At 18.30, those attending will receive a special welcome message from Steve Byrne, the GSPCA Manager, and Andrew Sparks, board member of Autism Guernsey.

When that concludes, John Randall will begin hosting the auction, and that’s expected to continue through to 19.30, when there’ll be a brief break for the raffle.

As official media partner of the Dolphin Discovery Trail, Express has our very own Dolphin, Flippertron at the Peninsula for the auction.

Our dolphin was designed and decorated by the Midnight Painters Club comprising of Luke Gallie; local artist and tattooist, graphic designer Ben Smith, and Luke Webb; a Bailiwick Express Reporter and artist.
