Off-duty Paramedics from Guernsey’s emergency ambulance service have been based at the Sark Medical Centre so they can assess and treat residents and visitors when needed, after the Sark doctor was taken ill.
The St John staff deployed to Sark have also been on-call through the night to respond to medical emergencies.
St John has a long standing agreement to provide support for Sark when the regular doctor is not available and the organisation responded to a request from the authorities in the island.
The paramedics deployed to Sark have volunteered to work during periods when they would normally be off duty, so there isn’t any impact on the operations of the emergency ambulance service in Guernsey during this time.
St John Ambulance said it would like to thank the members of staff who have been working in Sark during recent weeks.
