Children currently in Years Seven and Eight at the high schools and Year Seven at the Grammar School will be required to wear the newly designed Lisia uniform when they move to the colleges in 2022.

The Lisia school uniform was announced in July,” said President of Education, Sport and Culture, Deputy Matt Fallaize. “I can now confirm that my committee will fully fund the costs of changes to uniform, which will be required during the transition process from the current uniforms to the new uniform. This is being done in order that parents do not face additional unexpected costs as a result of uniform changes beyond their control.”

ESC has decided to begin introducing the new uniform next year – ahead of the colleges’ opening – to save new Year Sevens getting different uniforms for the sake of two years. It also aims to “create a sense of belonging for those who will be part of the new colleges”.

All students currently in Year Nine and above (and Year Eight at the Grammar School) will continue to wear their usual uniform until they complete their final secondary school year.

Children in Year Six and below at the moment will start secondary school in the new uniform. Their parents and carers will be sent uniform lists after school places have been confirmed in March, as is normally the case.

Despite the early uniform change, retailers will still stock replacements of the existing uniform throughout the transition period. Uniform Allowance will continue as usual for eligible students, organised by the Committee for Employment and Social Security.

School leaders are currently in the process of consulting staff and students about the crests and insignia for the de Saumarez and Victor Hugo Colleges, which will be confirmed in due course.

Parents and carers of students in the year groups required to change uniform should be advised by letter and can find more information here.
