They’ve applied for planning permission to erect a 10m flag pole to the west of the property which sits at the bottom of Route de Cobo.

The property’s grounds make the corner with the Cobo coast road.

The property has a somewhat controversial history.

The previous owners were allowed to demolish a much smaller house which sat on the grounds in 2018. They replaced it with the much larger property, now called Oceano.

The previous owners also built a wall around the coastal perimeter of the property, cutting off public access to what was known as the ‘Cobo Alice field’. The field previously housed a decorative boat, and Cobo Alice is the name of a doll traditionally linked with the area.

The previous owners relocated off island after criticising locals for eating fish and chips and drinking beer in the area. They also had difficulties with a number of tradespeople, including conflicts over paying bills connected to the development of the property.

The current owners are understood to have bought the property in 2021 and have not been involved in any of the previous controversies.
