Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant General Sir Richard Cripwell will welcome the other local recipients of King’s Birthday Honours to a special reception at Government House today.

His Excellency has received a Knighthood in recognition of his service to the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

Sir Richard will be hosting the annual ‘King’s Birthday reception’ at Government House today – which invited guests are able to attend.

Among those there today will be the Lieutenant Governor’s Aide-de-Camp Major Marco CIOTTI, who is made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.

Major Ciotti’s award is a personal honour gifted by the Monarch in recognition of distinguished personal service to the Monarch, members of the Royal family, or to any representative of the Monarch.

In what has been described as a ‘bumper’ year for Bailiwick Honours recipients, Specsavers’ founder Doug Perkins has been made a CBE for his services to business and trade.

Jurat Neil Hunter, Joanne Priaulx, and Dr Stephen Brennand Roper have all been awarded the MBE for their services to Alderney, neonatal care in Guernsey, and healthcare in Guernsey respectively.

Jon Le Page has been awarded the King’s Fire Service medal. He is unable to attend today’s reception in Guernsey as he is in Canada for his son’s wedding.

Mr Le Page told Express that he would have loved to have been able to attend and will be thinking of all those who he worked alongside over his 33 year career as he celebrates receiving his award.

Today’s event at Government House will mark the King’s Official Birthday with a toast raised and speeches.

Each recipient will be invited to a ceremony to receive their award at a later date.

Other events taking place locally to mark the King’s Official Birthday include the firing of a 21-gun salute from Castle Cornet.
