Andrew Ozanne from Guernsey is to receive an OBE, Edric Baker from Sark will receive an MBE and Gary Le Poidevin is to receive a personal honour from Her Majesty for his many years’ work as a gardener at Government House.
That is the Royal Victorian Medal (silver) which is a personal gift from the Monarch.
Guernsey-born Mr Le Poidevin trained as a young apprentice with the States of Guernsey’s Parks and Gardens department in 1972, moving into Government house a decade later as Second Gardener and subsequently becoming promoted to Head Gardener in 1995.

Mr Baker, who was born in Sark during the Occupation and served on Chief Pleas from the early 1970s until last year, has been awarded his MBE for his services to the island.
In addition to his official contributions as a Counseiller over five decades, Mr Baker helps his son in the maintenance of the Sark landscape in his spare hours.

Mr Ozanne is to be commended with an OBE for his services to Law Enforcement and Health.
He has been involved with the rehabilitation of offenders as the founder of the charity CLIP (Creative Learning in Prison) and has also served as Chairman of The Diabetic Association and was previously on the board of the medical charity, Victoria Hospital.

The three recipients will all be honoured at a reception in honour of the Queen’s Birthday at Guernsey’s Government House today. A toast will be raised to Her Majesty, Mr Baker, Mr Ozanne and Mr Le Poidevin.
The celebrations will also feature a performance by Major Sergeant Gary Freeland and the Bugles of 5thBattalion The Rifles (6x buglers), accompanied by an orchestra of young local musicians from the Schools’ Music Service. His Excellency’s son will feature as Captain in the Regiment.
The Commanding officer of 5 Rifles, Lieutenant Colonol Andrew Ridland will be present at the reception as a guest of His Excellency and Lady Corder, accompanied by his wife.
