defibrillator heart aed

It was fitted recently in the security search area, meaning the airport now has two AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator).

The original AED is installed in the crew room of the Alderney Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting Service. The new one is positioned to be more accessible by members of the public.

“All RFFS crew members are trained in using an AED and they are first responders in the event of an emergency,” said a spokesperson for Guernsey Ports.

“Shift managers for G4S Security and Aurigny ground crew have also completed relevant training.

“The search area is staffed throughout the airport’s opening hours by officers who are trained to use the device. We hope that the AED will never need to be used, but it is important that we are prepared in the event of an emergency.”
