The lights are funded by The St Peter Port Christmas Lights charity, which fundraises throughout the year to pay for the festive decorations.

Jax Robin is Acting Chair for the charity and has overseen this year’s fundraising which included an envelope drop co-ordinated by Guernsey Post.

That saw members of the public return their envelopes with a donation inside.

Ninety One matched all donations to the Christmas Lights fund made during September, with other fundraising support from Creasey’s, M&S, LINQ kitchens + bedrooms, Le Petit Train and Walter Property.

Mrs Robin said other individual donations from businesses and members of the public have also been well received this year.

All of the donations made were combined with a £15,000 grant from the Committee For Economic Development to pay for the lights.

Mrs Robin said: “We thank all donors, however big or small”, adding that “without you all we would not be able to provide the magic of the Festive atmosphere in St Peter Port for so many of you to enjoy.

“We are humbled by your generosity as always but even more in these difficult economic times.”
