The Committee for Education, Sport and Culture has already gone out to tender to find construction firms able to do the work which will involve repurposing a lot of the existing space and also building substantial extensions at the current St Sampson’s and Les Beaucamps High schools.
They’ll be converted into Victor Hugo and De Saumarez colleges under the Lisia School model being created.
There remains some opposition to the plans, despite the proposed ‘one-school-two-sites’ model being supported by the States in subsequent votes to approve the idea and then the funding.
Initially the consultation period on the planning application would have ended on 27 December, in line with the States rules for the Development and Planning Authority.
Concerns over that deadline were first raised by St Sampson’s Douzenier Leonie Le Tissier and Vale Deputy Mary Lowe on Twitter, with both saying it didn’t give enough time for concerned members of the public to have their say.
I have written to the political members on Planning asking if they will extend the date for submissions until end January

21days leading up to&including the Christmas period on major plans isnt fair to those living in the area/parents of thousands children attending the schools https://t.co/qelCAkgWDx
They’ve been listened to and the consultation period has been extended to 23 January.

Pictured: St Sampson’s High and Les Beaucamps High will become the two new colleges under the Lisia School model.
The planning application for the current Les Beaucamps High School site asks for permission to put up new buildings, with associated external works and new vehicular access.
If approved the changes would enable the school to take more pupils when it forms the new De Saumarez College, under the ‘one-school-two-sites’ model being introduced.
It’s estimated that around 1,400 pupils and staff will be at the new college once it opens.

The planning application for the current St Sampson’s High site is similar to the one for Les Beaucamps.
If approved, it would also see external changes to the school site and new buildings put up, to cater for the estimated 1,500 pupils who will attend lessons there from September 2022 onwards.
The Baubigny site will be known as Victor Hugo College once the new Lisia School opens.

The planning applications for both the sites can be seen at gov.gg HERE.
