Authors Kate Rhodes, Elly Griffiths and Jane Casey (pictured top l-r) will talk about their latest books for the ‘Anatomy of a Crime Thriller’ event.
Planned for Saturday 10 June at the Methodist Church, there will be three hour-long sessions with each author taking centre stage to discuss details of their literary creations including what was the inspiration for their settings, characters and plots.
The idea for the one-day festival came out of the success of the recent Literary Festival in Alderney.
“What better way to discover why some thrillers have readers captivated, turning the pages long into the night?” said Rachel Abbott of the Alderney Literary Trust, who is herself a crime thriller writer. “These writers are at the top of their game, and we’re delighted to welcome them to our island.”
Elly Griffiths, author of the internationally successful Ruth Galloway series, will explore characters in ‘The mind of a murderer’, while Jane Casey, whose latest thriller The Close has been described as “dangerously addictive” will reveal her golden rules for devising ‘A killer plot’.
Kate Rhodes’ current series is based in the Scilly Isles and she will explain why location is so critical in ‘A perfect place to die’.
Ms Rhodes is also offering a ‘Starting to Write Crime Fiction’ course on the Saturday morning for a maximum of 20 people.
Tickets are available from April 17 from the Alderney Visitor Centre and The Blonde Hedgehog, and online from April 20 at alderneyliterarytrust.com/crime-thriller-fest
