Over 65s have had access to free bus travel since 2001, however it has been decided to introduce concessionary bus passes “in order to standardise the type of ID presented to drivers”.
From 1 November, passengers in this age group will have to pay the standard bus fee if they don’t have a card.

The cost of obtaining a concessionary pass is £2.50 and application forms are available from the CT Plus shop at the Albany, which is behind the bus terminus.
Any applicants who have difficulty attending the shop in person can contact CT Plus’ customer care team on 01481 700456 so that alternative arrangements to be made.
A recognised form of ID stating the applicant’s age will be required, alongside a passport-sized photograph, which can be taken at the shop if needed.
As with all other Puffin passes, concessionary pass holders will be required to scan their pass as they board. The cards have a validity of 15 years, after which time concessionary passengers will be required to re-apply and will be charged at the rate of that time.
