Le Rondin School has received a glowing Ofsted report.

The inspectorate reviewed several different key and crucial areas of Le Rondin’s educational offering earlier this month, from the quality of education provided to students, to behaviour, attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.

In all there are five categories that Ofsted rates schools under – and Le Rondin was rated ‘Excellent’ in each.

The regulator was not shy with their praise, firstly commending the “transformational impact on childrens’ lives” and the “skilled staff” and “carefully thought-out curriculum”.

“Children are extremely well cared for at Le Rondin,” said Ofsted. “The school ensures that every pupil experiences high-quality education, positive relationships and clear routines that they need to succeed. As a result, the school has a transformational impact on children’s lives.

“Pupils are mostly calm, confident and happy. They follow instructions and understand the rules and routines of the classroom. Pupils who need help to manage their behaviour receive appropriate support to learn how to do this. From the early years onwards, pupils thrive due to skilled staff and a carefully thought-out curriculum.”

In its report, Ofsted claims that proud parents are right to be delighted with the learning and development taking place, and that the school goes above and beyond.

“Parents are rightly proud of the support their children receive. Many parents particularly appreciate the school’s support for their child’s social and emotional development. This enables pupils to participate in a wide range of activities. These opportunities build pupils’ confidence and help them to become active citizens.

“The school is very ambitious for its pupils. Staff go the extra mile to ensure that pupils have the skills and knowledge they need to prepare them to have active and fulfilled lives. The school goes beyond its own boundaries to influence the support and opportunities available for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities across the island.”

With five out of five categories hitting the highest possible level, (rated from inadequate to excellent), it’s little surprise local reaction has been nothing but praise for Le Rondin school, it’s staff and students.

Paula Sullivan, the Headteacher of Le Rondin, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been rated ‘excellent’ in all areas by Ofsted. This achievement is a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of our incredible Le Rondin staff, our wonderful pupils, and our wider school community.

“At the heart of our success is a commitment to providing a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential. We will continue to strive for excellence, ensuring that our school remains a place where every student feels valued, supported and challenged to be their very best.”

Nick Hynes, Guernsey’s Director of Education, added: “This fantastic Ofsted inspection report reflects the exceptional leadership, and dedication and hard work of the team at Le Rondin. I send my heartfelt congratulations to Paula and all the staff at the school on such a brilliant result.

“Parents and carers at the school should also be congratulated, as we know that this result reflects the whole school community’s commitment to every child getting the best possible education and support. We are incredibly proud of Le Rondin and look forward to supporting them as they continue to provide exceptional opportunities for all their pupils.”

Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, the President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, commented: “On behalf of the Committee, I’d like to congratulate Paula and the entire team at Le Rondin. This excellent report clearly demonstrates the incredible work taking place at the school, and we should feel proud that its pupils are growing and learning in such a fantastic environment. The report highlights the exceptional leadership, high-quality teaching and nurturing environment that ensures every pupil thrives.”
