Recent social media claims of a youth bringing a knife into a Guernsey school have been rejected by Guernsey Police, but the force said an incident relating to this has been “dealt with”.

Posting on Facebook on Sunday afternoon, Bailiwick Law Enforcement said it was accepted that there was an incident with a young person but Police said this wasn’t “on school premises or in school hours” and that “no one was placed in danger”.

They added that the incident didn’t “directly invovle a bladed article” and investigations had found no evidence “that a knife was actually brought into a school”.

But Police did admit a separate issue which did involve a knife had occured, but again said this has been “dealt with”.

Posts alleging a knife in a school were shared widely on social media over the weekend which Police said has “understandably caused alarm for parents”.

“However we wanted to reassure the community that we have been working closely with the school and wider partner agencies to address it,” said the spokesperson.

“We take this kind of report incredibly seriously, as do Education, and so robust discussions have taken place with the young person and their family.”
