From next Monday, the 92 bus will be stopping at the Harbour Terminal.

The service which operates anti-clockwise around the island, will start stopping off to pick up and drop off passengers, making it easier for islanders and visitors to use the buses when travelling by boat.

The 92 will stop off at the terminal building at around 40 minutes past the hour, every hour from 08:40 until 18:40 Monday – Saturday, and every two hours on a Sunday.

Additional services are also being explored from September, as part of the annual timetable change.

This is fully aligned with the aims of Guernsey’s ‘Integrated Transport Strategy’ to reduce the number of vehicle journeys, increase the number of journeys made by alternative forms of transport and improve transport accessibility for all members of the community.

Alongside the clockwise route 91, the 92 is already a popular service with visitors, as it provides a coastal tour around the island, despite being a public scheduled service.

With new timetables not due to be published until September, the amendment won’t be included on the current timetable for the time being. However, this change is being made now for visitors and any islanders who might be travelling by boat over the summer.

An information sheet has been created with the times specifically for the harbour and the website and app are also in the process of being updated with this new stop.

Laura Oxburgh, Head of On-island Travel and Transport Implementation, said:
“We’re really pleased to be able to make this change. We know that people want
transport that is easy and well connected, and this means that we need to do what
we can to make sure our buses stop at key places of interest for local residents and
visitors.

“Some visitors who come to Guernsey without a car find it challenging to walk from the bus terminus to the harbour to catch a boat, so this is a very practical change that will benefit those who rely on the bus service, and I’d like to thank Stagecoach for their support and willingness to make this work.

“Already this year, we’ve been able to provide buses directly to Beau Sejour and so it’s brilliant to be able to provide another direct service to another popular location.”

Peter Knight, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, said: “We’re really pleased to support this change, which will make it easier for people arriving by boat to connect directly with local bus services. Improving accessibility and convenience for both islanders and visitors is something we’re always striving for, and this new stop at the harbour terminal is a great example of how small changes can make a big difference.

“We’re committed to working with the States of Guernsey to continue aligning public transport with the needs of the community and the ambitions of the Integrated Transport Strategy.”
