Sark School
Following detailed risk assessments, two or three groups of children will be able to return for short, one or two hour periods to have lessons with their teacher.

Students will have to remain socially distanced from one another and will arrive at the school through separate doorways, with clear instructions on how to access the building safely.

It will be cleaned throughout the day, between each group of children, and there will be no social or play time.

“Whilst we recognise that this is a long way from the excellent educational provision on offer to children prior to the lockdown, we believe that this is a suitable first step,” said Chairman of Sark’s Education Committee, Conseiller Amanda de Carteret.

Sark is covid-19 free, which has enabled us to move more quickly towards restricted teaching in the school building. However, the provision will be constantly reviewed and risk assessed, and parents are clear that we may need to revert to the online provision offered during lockdown should the risk of infection change.”

No positive cases of corona virus have been identified in Sark, although it has still kept to lockdown restrictions with some minor exceptions.

The rest of the Bailiwick’s schools are due to reopen next month, after the May half term, but that could change dependent on the local situation.
